Mobile-ready sites & Google
Last year we wrote about how Google would start to penalise firm’s whose websites don’t comply with their mobile responsive rules (see below).
There are still hundreds of thousands of websites out there that don’t pass the test yet – is yours one of them? If so, give us a call, and we will help you find the right solution for your business.
On 21st April 2015, Google will change how they rank your website based on how mobile-ready it is – this is a global change, not just for the UK.
A mobile site is one that adjusts its layout based on the browser being used as well as the size and orientation of the display in use.
Your site may be penalised in the mobile-search rankings if is not mobile-ready.
Is your website mobile-ready? Check here.
This does not affect SEO rankings from desktop computers – just searches that are made using phones & tablets. So it’s worth looking at your website’s Google Analytics, to see what proportion of your visitors originate from mobile Google searches.
The Marketing Team uses the WordPress platform and applies specific tools to create fully mobile-ready sites. We can also ‘retro-fit’ this changes to any existing website built in WordPress on a very cost-effective basis.
Your first port of call should always be your original web designer, but if they can’t help, or if you’ve built your WordPress site yourself, you may need some extra help. If you’re using WordPress and you’re not sure whether your site is ready, just call us on 01832 226421.
