Niche Marketing Works
One of the biggest factors affecting the success of marketing investment in small businesses is that niche marketing works.
What does that mean exactly?
Well, it boils down to the fact that the more specifically you target appropriate messages at a highly selected audience, the more successful your marketing will be.
So stop and look at who you want to buy your products or services. Is it everyone? Or are there particular characteristics that can be used to identify your target market. This might be a gender, age bracket or – if you are targeting businesses – sector, job title and size.
And if you have more than one niche, you may well be able to use very specific messages to generate a different response from different groups.
And don’t get us started on how this affects your choice of media!
Like much marketing, when you think about it, it’s just common sense. If someone tried to sell me a car because it’s shiny, new and has 4 seats, they are far less like to succeed than if they tried to sell me a 5 door car with a low boot lip so it’s easy for my dog to get into – they would be really looking at my needs!
